Maritime people in China and Norway will seek new chances

China and Norway announced Monday the normalization of diplomatic and political ties in Beijing. Premier Li Keqiang and Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende confirmed in their meeting that the two countries would negotiate a free-trade deal.

Since 2010, the year the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Liu Xiaobo, a jailed Chinese dissident, the bilateral relationship between Beijing and Oslo has gone through a six-year deterioration and freeze.  Mutual communication and exchange between two country’s maritime shipping, shipbuilding, offshore marine sectors had been influenced accordingly, despite the facts both countries’ industry structure are supplemental to each other. Normally ship owners from Norway place ship building orders to China, while mostly China buys Norwegian certain core technologies and key equipment. Ever-growingly, companies from both countries are joining hands to develop high end ships or offshore marine engineering to seize the market opportunities.

Now the normalization of diplomatic and political ties will renew the positive energy into industry circles in both countries, especially in maritime, shipping, shipbuilding, offshore marine sectors.

Mr. Bob Li, Editor in Chief of International Ship & Offshore Media China based in Shanghai said that one good sign will be shown that more Chinese companies will attend the industry famous exhibition and conference Nor-Shipping 2017 to be held in Oslo during May 30-June 2. Maritime people in China and Norway will seek new chances with the momentum of the normalization of diplomatic and political ties.

International Ship & Offshore Media China had successfully reported the industry exhibitions in German Hamburg called SMM and Danish Copenhagen called DMF in 2016. International Ship & Offshore Media China expects to report the event of Nor-Shipping 2017 along with Chinese industry delegate.
